Zahradnická lies between the historic centre, Old Brno and the exhibition centre. Riverside never makes you choose just one side of Brno: begin your morning by the river, spend the day at a trade fair or in the city, then finish the evening beneath Petrov.
The new flood-protection works along Poříčí have opened the Svratka up to people. Alongside protecting the city, they have created a riverside promenade, seating steps, paths and places to pause. Riverside stands nearby, but not directly on the riverbank.

Walk along the new Svratka riverfront
Brno is turning back towards its river. The stretch of Poříčí between the Uhelná viaduct and Riviéra now has a promenade, paths, places to sit and quieter natural areas. It is an easy way to swap the city for the water without leaving Brno.

Visit the birthplace of genetics
Mendel’s story belongs to Old Brno. At the Augustinian Abbey, an exhibition explores Gregor Johann Mendel and the setting in which he worked with peas, bees and the questions of heredity. Some tours must be booked in advance; check the museum website for current details.

Descend into the Žlutý kopec Water Tanks
An engineering landmark with the atmosphere of an underground cathedral. Three historic water tanks reveal brick vaults, concrete chambers and part of the infrastructure that once supplied Brno with water. Walk through the park to Špilberk
A castle, casemates and the city at your feet. End your climb at the courtyard and viewpoints, or continue into the Brno City Museum exhibitions and Baroque casemates.

Mies van der Rohe and one of the 20th century’s most precisely designed houses. Medieval cellars eight metres beneath the market square. The labyrinth connects historic cellars, archaeological finds and stories about food storage, light and life beneath one of Brno’s oldest squares.

Science you can touch. The interactive science centre in the former Pavilion D at the exhibition centre is built around experiments, movement and play. It makes a great full-day plan for families and curious adults alike.

Look beyond Brno from Kraví hora
A planetarium, stargazing and city views. Brno Observatory combines digital shows, accessible science and, depending on the programme, observation of the night sky. The surrounding park is worth a visit even without a ticket. The programme varies by day and type of show; check the calendar before you go.

Take a boat across Prýgl
An electric boat, wooded shores and a trip beyond the centre. Brno’s seasonal boat service runs from Bystrc across the reservoir towards Veveří Castle and Veverská Bítýška. Boats run only during the sailing season; check the current timetable and fares before you set off.

Riverside stands on Zahradnická Street, close to the newly landscaped Svratka riverfront, but not directly on the riverbank. The promenade is an easy walk from the hotel.
